Winter term 2018/19: Designing Future Cities: Urban regeneration in Tbilisi
In the sixth year of the interdisciplinary Designing Smart Cities projects, an exchange project focusing on urban renewal in the city center of Tbilisi was realized.
Within this seminar we were – together with Georgian experts, young professionals and stakeholders from the municipality of Tbilisi – developed specific solutions and implementation strategies to overcome multidimensional problems that occur in the regeneration of Plekhanov, an inner-city neighbourhood in Tbilisi.
How could sustainable urban regeneration in the project area in Plekhanov be designed to improve quality of life and living of the residents, to promote social coexistence in the future, and to prevent social disparities and repression?
For this project, our partners were the Tbilisi civil association REALLABOR, the Federal Foreign Office and the RWTH Aachen who continuously supports us through an active cooperation.
We thank all private and public partners for their support!
The integrated concept, consisting of all the five different solutions, is targeting to improve quality of life and living of the residents, to promote social coexistence in the future, and to prevent social disparities and repression. The solutions are embedded in a strong net of synergies and mutually supporting and complementing each other.
